A Relaxing Weekend

Finally, I got my much needed relaxing weekend. I went up to Geneva with Dave. We were supposed to be going for his cousin's wedding (which has been planned for over a year now). But due to an unknown reason, they postponed the wedding Wednesday. We went up anyhow because his parents were expecting us. I hadn't been up there since Christmas! Crazy how time 'flies'.

Anyhow... Friday afternoon I got to meet with Sayaka and Shannon, two prenatal Genetics Counselors at Riverside. They were very nice, and very informative. I'm going to volunteer and shadow them this summer. Sayaka also suggested I spend a week shadowing for a pediatric GC, and cancer GC. We talked about a lot of stuff, and it helped a lot. I now feel ok about changing my major. I just wish they had a plain biology minor at OSU. It's not worth changing if I still have to take the upperlevel Mol gen classes. And other minors don't seem as relavent. BUT, they pointed out that having some general classes to demonstrate knowledge is enough. They hadn't heard of genetics counseling until they had already graduated!

So that is good... now I just have to find and get accepted to a job for the summer, one that lets me volunteer still. Busy busy!!

Friday I also got a call from Giselle saying that she's having a girl!! I'm thrilled. Now I'll have a niece to add to my nephews. I love being an aunt!!!

Other than that, not much is happening. Trying to stay calm this week. All I have are quizzes and a lab report to do. No big tests of any sort. That is nice. I also need to start working on my Psych paper. I can't believe next week is my last week of class!! 1 week and 1 day until my last Ochem test!! This is my last week of actually doing labs! I like knowing when something will be the last time! Oh, that reminds me of other good news I got from Sayaka and Shannon. Apparently they struggled in Biochem and general/organic chem... and they got into their programs without a problem!
