Beginning the move

The time has come to move. Oh joy! Hopefully I can live in a place for more than a year this time, although I'm scared to think of how much crap I could accumulate over two years! Earlier in the week I went home to Cincinnati and spent a wonderful day with my mom. I picked up about 10 boxes and a linen bag and was on my way. Today I packed half of the linen bag, along with 3 full boxes, a crate, a under the bed thing, and a few half-packed boxes. And my place still looks full. I'm scared. At some point I think I will return to Cincinnati to exchange cars with my mom so that I will have more space to store and transport stuff.

On Friday I went over to Kate's to babysit Colin. When I got there he was so scared that she was leaving him... which technically she was, but not for a half hour! She went to hop in the shower before her hair appointment and he ran and threw himself at her bedroom door, and actually managed to open it as he reached for the doorknob. (I think Kate and Greg may need to invest in some door knob things like Giselle has going to her basement!) I carried him out of her bedroom and he thrashed so much he hit his head on the door, and threw himself onto the floor repeatedly. I managed to hold onto him, and picked up his blankie. We sat infront of her bedroom door and just rubbed his back reassuring him that mommy was just in the shower and would be out in a few minutes. Eventually he calmed down enough and we started to play a little. And right about the time he forgot he was upset... mommy was done! :) During his little tantrum he kept rubbing his eyes, so Kate and I decided... he was ready for a nap. He went down and then Kate left. Easiest babysitting job ever, but not the most entertaining. He slept until noon. When he got up I gave him lunch, wiped him off, and then we went to go for a walk. We opened the garage door and Greg had come home for lunch. Colin and I went for a walk anyhow, but he kept turning around in the wagon saying "daddy" and pointing towards home. So after about ten minutes we returned. Soon after that Kate was home and we went out for some very mild Indian food.

After babysitting I had to work, and worked from 6 until 2:30am. It was a long night, but a good night. And today I've just been packing like I mentioned before. Tonight I'm going to the Thirsty Scholar with some friends. We're celebrating that Mark is done with the MCAT, which he took today! I have a lot of respect for everyone who's taken that test, and I'm glad I decided that I can enjoy a job without taking that test!
