Vacation

I love the beach. But more than the beach I love spending time with family. So getting to do both is wonderful! This year I was blessed to be able to fly down to Kiawah Island for a Wednesday to Wednesday trip. Being at the house my parents rented for two weeks, my trip allowed me to see just as many people as my parents. I had no problem sleeping on the couch because I was sure not to miss anything while I was there!

Now, while my sisters evidently don't recall my short visits with them... evident of their blog entries of the trip omitting my existance, I loved getting to spend time with both of them and my nephews. My trip included time with mom, dad, Chuck, Betty, Giselle, Jeff, Andrew, Jeannette, Rus, Kate, Greg, Colin, Joel, Lisa, Jeremy, Nathan, and even my friend Matt.

Here are some of the highlights from my trip:

-walking in the fountain with Andrew and getting pretty wet while he was lying in the water!
-enjoying the great food we always have on our trip!
-walking on the beach with Jeannette and Rus on their short visit.
-Going to Charleston and visiting Matt and the people from his summer program, and getting to go to a rooftop bar.
-Watching Colin lie down in the waves and not flinch as the water poured over him.
-reading Colin a book before bed.
-playing in the sand with Jeremy and Nathan.
-battling the waves with Nathan and Lisa as a storm seemed to approach.
-playing Risk and actually winning!
-playing LOTS of games.
-Going out to lunch and shopping with my mom and dad.
-the numerous conversations I got to have with people.
-and believe it or not waking up early every morning and getting to see everyone for breakfast and time on the porch.

This trip showed me how much life changes. I no longer had a companion at the beach that was my age, but I feel like I adapted well. As I went for the big waves by myself I realized it was more enjoyable to spend time with my cousins and quickly switched to helping Nathan charge through the waves. I now wake up early to enjoy coffee with my mom, and have nice conversations with everyone. It's truly an odd age to be with the group of people I went with, but I think I enjoyed every minute. Unfortunately I have NO pictures, because as always I enjoyed living the moment instead of holding a camera. Oops!
